Drinking game
The Stunkelstein drinking game
How do you play Stunkelstein as a drinking game?
Play a normal round of Stunkelstein, then add one rule: whoever loses drinks. If the room catches the Stunk, the Stunk drinks. If the Stunk survives the vote or guesses the secret word, everyone who voted wrong drinks. Add sips for vague clues or wild accusations to keep it spicy. It's the social-deduction drinking game where one player doesn't know the word.
Stunkelstein is already built for pre-drinks and parties. Add booze and the bluffing gets a whole lot funnier.
The core rule
- Stunk caught → the Stunk takes a drink.
- Stunk survives → everyone who voted for the wrong person drinks.
- Stunk guesses the word → the whole room drinks. Brutal.
Optional house rules (stack as many as you dare)
Vague clue, take a sip
If the table agrees your clue was a cop-out, drink. Keeps people honest — and exposes the Stunk.
Wrong accusation
Loudly accuse someone who turns out innocent? One sip for the false alarm.
Unanimous miss
If the entire room votes wrong, the entire room drinks. The Stunk earns it.
Stunk streak
Survive two rounds as the Stunk in a row? You hand out a drink to anyone you like.
Why it works as a drinking game
- Short rounds mean drinks come fast and the game never drags.
- Everyone plays every round — nobody's sitting out waiting to drink.
- Drinks follow the drama, not luck — losing a bluff hits harder than a coin flip.
- It's already a talking game, so it pairs perfectly with a drink in hand.
Play responsibly. The Stunkelstein drinking game is for adults of legal drinking age. Know your limits, keep water on the table, and never pressure anyone to drink — swapping a sip for a dare or a forfeit works just as well.

Frequently asked questions
Is Stunkelstein a good drinking game?
Yes — short rounds, everyone involved every round, and a clear loser to drink each time. The drinks follow the bluffing and deduction rather than luck. Always drink responsibly and only with players of legal drinking age.
Can you play without alcohol?
Absolutely. Swap drinks for sips of water, a dare, or a silly forfeit and it's just as fun for all-ages groups.
What other deduction games make good drinking games?
Spyfall, Werewolf, and the imposter word game all adapt well — but Stunkelstein's short rounds make the drinks land fastest. See games like Spyfall.
